I would also like to draw attention to Washington's blog today, which notes that an upcoming hurricane may create problems for the well head. The well is going to remain capped. This could pose problems during a hurricane.

It is clear that some amounts of oil and methane are indeed leaking from the ocean floor. The question is how much fluid and gas are leaking?
Chris Landau, a scientist, provides one account.

Matt Simmons provides another account. Simmons latest comments can be found at zero hedge.

BP has been forced to acknowledge some leaks but denies the degree of leakage argued by Landau and Simmons.
A hurricane may provide horrific evidence supporting Landau's and/or Simmons claims.
