ODD: What Truly Ails?

Nearly 5,500 taken to hospital due to heatstroke last week, 13 die. Mainichi

TOKYO (Kyodo) -- A total of 5,467 people were taken by ambulance to hospital due to heatstroke last week and 13 of them died, the Fire and Disaster Management Agency said Tuesday in a preliminary report.

Majia here: One has to wonder whether it was the heat alone that caused over 5,000 people to be taken to the hospital.

I live in the desert and our summer temperatures range from 100-120 Fahrenheit and we do not have massive heatstrokes.

I understand that older people who are shut up in hot apartments can suffer from the heat, but that usually happens in the event of a power outage.

Is radiation weakening people in Japan, making them more susceptible to heat stroke and other ailments?

Would the Japanese Government deliberately lie about what ails its citizens?

Would the US Government deliberately lie about what ails its citizens?

  1. I'm a resident of Tokyo, and can assure you that the meme of "heat stroke" has been pushed quite a bit in the last few months. One big article was about how heat stroke was four times as bad this year as two years ago. Climate change, of course, so carbon indulgences owned by Tokyo Electric are the answer.

There are also a couple of relatively new NGOs/charities that deal with heat stroke, and they have the money for full-page ads in major newspapers.
