WSJ: 'Japan Seeks Deal to Sell Reactors to India'

TBS cam down obscured by weather today.

Apparently India is interested in having its own Fukushima plant.

Sekiguchi, T (2013, May 30) Japan Seeks Deal to Sell Reactors to India. The Wall Street Journal, p. A16

[Excerpted] Japan and  India agreed to reopen talks for a nuclear-energy agreement that would let Japanese companies export nuclear reactors and technology to India....

The acceleration of talks comes less than a month after Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe signed atomic-power treaties with Turkey and the United Arab Emirates.

Japanese nuclear-power builders are increasingly looking to export their reactors, as domestic facilities have kept reactors offline and put off plans for any new construction.... [end]

Majia here: Hitachi is cited as particularly interested in foreign markets.

The article explains that a joint venture with General Electric and GE Hitachi Nuclear Energy has been promoting nuclear in India since 2008.

Mitsubishi Heavy is also hoping to set up a nuclear-plant enterprise in India. India hasn't signed the Treaty on Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.

Calling out to all Indians: Do you  want THIS in your backyard?
